2. 24Kitchen

24Kitchen is specialty television channel that airs programs about food and cooking. If you live in the Netherlands you can find it on (you guessed it) channel 24.

Wat eten we vandaag? is a popular series on the channel featuring a handful of different hosts making simple and tasty recipes that are meant to be replicated in your home kitchen. There are over 200 videos (11 minutes each) to check out.

3. Allerhande

Allerhande by Albert Heijn consists of a free magazine, website, social media channels, and magazine app all bringing you endless culinary inspiration.

On the YouTube channel they share their recipes every Monday and Friday. The majority of videos are less than 5 minutes long and are not narrated — rather the instructions are written on screen. If you’re looking for a channel with more spoken Dutch this is probably not the one for you.

In the last couple weeks they have started uploading hosted videos with Hugo Kennis cooking recipes in 5-10 minute videos.

Subtitles: YouTube subtitles are available in Dutch (official) and can also be auto-translated into several other languages.

4. Njam het KOOKKANAAL

Njam! is a culinary platform with a range of cooking projects ranging from its own TV programs, digital television channel, magazine, website, books, and more. It can be seen on channel 20 in Belgium.

6. Libelle Lekker

Similar in concept to Allerhande (#3) and Njam (#4), Libelle Lekker is a Belgian culinary magazine, website, YouTube channel, Instagram account, and app for delicious everyday recipes and culinary inspiration.

Videos on the channel consist of short (less than 1 minute) instructional cooking videos which are not narrated but rather just have the ingredients on screen. This is great for your Dutch food vocabulary.

Kelly’s channel has all kinds of fun videos from vlogs, to mukbangs, challenges, story times, etc..

11. Bruine Youtubers

The Bruine Youtubers channel was made by creators who saw a need in the Dutch YouTube community to stand up for and represent anyone discriminated against. Kelly, Faisel, and occasionally other guests join for mukbangs and other fun challenges.

Their mukbangs playlist is linked above.

12. Beautygloss

Mascha is well-known for beauty reviews, trials, and tutorials, but you can also find the occasional mukbang or food video on her channel (which has been around since 2007).

Despite being a beauty channel, her food videos are highly popular. I’ve linked to her food playlist which is mostly mukbangs however there are also some older cooking/recipe videos.

Subtitles: YouTube subtitles are available in Dutch (auto-generated) and can also be auto-translated into several other languages. Older videos (c. 2012 and earlier) do not have subtitles.

13. Teske

Teske is a 26-year YouTuber making videos about her love for her cat, plants, and vegan food.

Netflix

16. Sergio Over de Grens

Sergio Herman (Belgian) takes special guests around the world in pursuit of delicious food and fun adventures.

There is one season on Netflix (Netherlands) with 8 episodes and each one has a different guest and destination.

Subtitles: Dutch or English

17. Sergio & Axel: van de kaart

Another culinary program hosted by Sergio Herman — but this time he takes actor Alex Daeseleire with him around the globe to explore and immerse themselves in new cultures and cuisines.

There is one season on Netflix (Netherlands) with 7 episodes and each one features a new destination.

Subtitles: Flemish or English

There is sadly not a huge list of Dutch-spoken culinary programs on Netflix.

However if you’re watching from Belgium or the Netherlands, you can watch most programs in their native language with Dutch subtitles. It’s not as helpful (in my opinion) as hearing spoken Dutch and reading along the with subtitles, but it’s still something.

Programs such as Street Food Asia, Street Food USA, The Chef Show, Chef’s Table, Taco Chronicles, and Salt Fat Acid Heat can all be watched with Dutch subtitles in the Netherlands.

Disney+

NPO Start

NPO Start is a free platform where you can watch a number of televisions programs which broadcast originally on the Dutch stations NPO 1, NPO 2, and NPO 3. So these Dutch cooking shows are airing (or have previously aired) on television.

It is only available in the Netherlands, so to you will need a VPN to access these programs if you are not located in the Netherlands.

21. Keuringsdienst van waarde

The English title of this show would be something like “Truth Seekers”. In each episode the hosts try to learn more about or answer product-related questions. Not all episodes are about a food product — but they certainly make up the majority.

An episode might therefore be all about uncovering what the difference is between spek and ontbijtspek, or why plant-based yogurt is so expensive. They call the factories and meet with the experts to get to the bottom of these burning questions.

KVW is on its 24th season! And all episodes can be viewed on NPO Start.

For not only foodies but art, architecture, and history lovers — there is De kok en de directeur.
